Understanding Neurodiversity
Building understanding. Strengthening relationships. Supporting change.
Neurodiversity is more than a diagnosis.
It's about understanding that every brain experiences, processes and responds to the world differently. Those differences can bring incredible strengths, but they can also create challenges that affect confidence, relationships, emotional wellbeing and everyday life.
For many people, the hardest part isn't being neurodivergent.
It's feeling misunderstood.
Whether you're looking for support for yourself, your child, your relationship or your family, my aim is to create a space where understanding comes before judgement, where curiosity replaces criticism and where everyone feels heard.
Because when we understand ourselves and each other more deeply, everything begins to change.
What is Neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity recognises that there is no single "right" way for the brain to work.
It includes conditions such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other neurological differences, but every individual experiences these in their own unique way.
A diagnosis can be an important part of someone's journey, providing answers and helping experiences make sense.
However, a diagnosis doesn't tell us who someone is.
My work is centred on understanding the individual behind the diagnosis—their experiences, strengths, challenges and relationships.
Because every person deserves to be understood as a whole person, not simply through a label.
My Approach
One of the questions I ask most often is:
"What might this behaviour be trying to communicate?"
Whether we're talking about emotional outbursts, withdrawal, shutdowns, procrastination, overwhelm or conflict within relationships, behaviour rarely happens without a reason.
Instead of asking,
"How do we stop this behaviour?"
I believe a more helpful question is,
"What is happening underneath it?"
When we understand the reason behind behaviour, we can respond with compassion instead of frustration.
That shift doesn't just change behaviour.
It changes relationships.
Individual Therapy
Living in a world that isn't always designed for neurodivergent minds can be exhausting.
You may have spent years masking, feeling misunderstood or wondering why life seems harder than it appears to be for everyone else.
Therapy offers a space where you don't need to hide who you are.
Together we can explore:
Anxiety and overwhelm
Emotional regulation
Burnout
Self-esteem and confidence
Identity and self-understanding
Relationships
Masking
Life transitions
Building on your strengths
My aim isn't to change who you are.
It's to help you understand yourself more fully and build a life that works with your brain, rather than against it.
Parent Support
Parenting a neurodivergent child can be joyful, challenging, confusing and incredibly rewarding—often all at the same time.
Many parents tell me they feel as though they're constantly trying to do the right thing while questioning whether they're getting it wrong.
You are not alone.
Together we can explore:
Understanding your child's behaviour
Emotional regulation
Reducing conflict at home
Building connection
Supporting anxiety
Navigating school challenges
Looking after yourself as a parent
Strengthening family relationships
Sometimes parents don't need more advice.
Sometimes they simply need someone to help them make sense of what they're seeing.
Couples & Family Support
Neurodiversity doesn't just affect one person.
It influences relationships, communication and family life.
Many couples find themselves caught in repeating cycles of misunderstanding.
One partner may experience overwhelm while the other experiences rejection.
One person may seek structure while another struggles to provide it.
Neither person is wrong.
They're simply experiencing the world differently.
Together we can explore those differences with compassion, helping everyone feel heard and understood while building healthier ways of communicating.
Equine Assisted Therapy
For some people, talking isn't the easiest way to process thoughts and emotions.
Spending time alongside horses can provide a different kind of therapeutic experience.
The slower pace, outdoor environment and non-verbal nature of equine assisted therapy often help people feel calmer, more present and more connected to themselves.
There is no riding involved.
No expectation to perform.
Simply the opportunity to slow down, reflect and experience relationships in a different way.
Learning Together
One of my greatest passions is helping people understand neurodiversity—not just through therapy, but through education.
Over the coming months I'll be introducing a range of workshops, courses and group programmes designed to help individuals, parents, couples, families and professionals better understand neurodiversity and strengthen their relationships.
These sessions will combine psychological understanding with practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life.
Planned topics include:
Understanding ADHD and Autism beyond the diagnosis
Why behaviour always makes sense
Emotional regulation for children, teenagers and adults
Neurodiversity within relationships
Parenting with confidence and compassion
Supporting executive functioning
Reducing conflict through understanding
Communication that works for different brains
Burnout, masking and self-care
Building stronger family relationships
Whether you're neurodivergent yourself, supporting someone you love or working professionally with neurodivergent individuals, these workshops will provide a welcoming, practical and compassionate space to learn.

Professional Training
Alongside my therapeutic work, I'm passionate about helping organisations better understand neurodiversity.
Training can be tailored for:
Schools
Colleges
Charities
Businesses
Healthcare providers
Community organisations
Counsellors and helping professionals
Together we can create training that is engaging, practical and grounded in real-life experience, helping teams build confidence, improve communication and create environments where neurodivergent people can thrive.
My Philosophy
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief:
Understanding changes everything.
When people begin to understand themselves...
When parents begin to understand their children...
When partners begin to understand each other...
When professionals begin to understand the people they support...
Relationships become stronger.
Communication becomes clearer.
Compassion grows.
My hope is that everyone who works with me leaves feeling more understood, more confident and more hopeful—not because they've become someone different, but because they've discovered that they were never broken in the first place.
You're Welcome Here

Sometimes the first step is simply beginning a conversation.
